Gary The Person

Gary Fogarty is one of the busiest performing Bush Poets in Australia, his ability to inject his own uniquely ‘bush bred’ personality and humour into everything he does, and to tailor his performances to fit all situations have resulted in his busy schedule.
A fiercely proud Australian who makes no apologies for his rural upbringing, Gary is equally at home as a roving announcer at some of Queensland’s most iconic Festivals as he is entertaining corporate heavyweights with a combination of his hilarious and more thought provoking original poetry.
A life lived to the fullest has seen him work as an Agricultural Researcher, Rural Supplies Salesperson, Grazier, Farmer, Drought Relief Worker, Racehorse Strapper and Community Development Co-ordinator as well as playing Rugby League, Cricket, Tennis and Athletics, all at representative level. This has combined to provide Gary with a kitbag full of life experiences that fuel his poetry writing and allow him to relate to people from all walks of life.
Gary won numerous competitions, including the Inaugural Australian Bush Poetry Championships, in a brief 18 month assault on the competition circuit, before stepping up to develop a comprehensive range of professional skills that have seen him perform in every mainland state of Australia and twice in the USA. Gary has racked up an impressive list of industry awards being a 7 times finalist and 2 time winner of the Australian Bush Laurate Awards, a multiple medal winner at the World Championships of Performing Arts(USA), winner of the ‘Street of Dreams Award’ after being voted by the public as Australia’s most popular Bush Poet or Balladeer and twice recipient of an Australia Day Cultural Award.
Gary’s poetry has been utilised by Aussie Olympians to inspire their Gold Medal winning efforts, hangs proudly in the players gymnasium at the Brisbane Broncos, has inspired a Brisbane based Drought Relief Campaign, featured in a series of Channel 7 advertisements for Rugby Union tests between Australia and France and the iconic Bledisloe Cup matches between Australia & New Zealand, been broadcast by Hamish & Andy on their National radio show and around the world (a world first, Bush Poetry review of the Sex & The City Movie) as well as being enjoyed countless times by bush poetry lovers all around Australia at live performances and when broadcast regularly on both radio and television.
Gary’s philosophy is “I am an Entertainer first and a Bush Poet second and I am there to help you make your event as great as it can possibly be.”
If you need a Bush Poet, an Emcee, a Compere, an Announcer, a Charity Auctioneer, a Guest Speaker, a Workshop Facilitator, or a Customised Poem, then whatever your event, regardless of your location, it is well worth your time to contact Gary Fogarty to discuss what he has to offer.
